You are signing in to a new device or trying to reset a password, and the apple id verification code not received message stops you. Apple sends codes to trusted devices and phone numbers, and the fix depends on which route is failing.
Direct answer: If your Apple ID verification code does not arrive, check whether the code is being sent to a trusted device rather than SMS, confirm the phone number format, check filtered messages, disable SMS blockers, and use "Didn't get a verification code?" to try another trusted number or device.
Apple prefers trusted devices. When you sign in, the code may appear automatically on an iPhone, iPad, or Mac where you are already signed in. Only if no trusted device is available will Apple fall back to SMS or a phone call.
Codes are short-lived. If you request several, always use the newest one and enter it immediately. Also make sure the device clock is correct - time drift can cause errors.
Add more than one trusted number, enable two-factor authentication with an authenticator app where possible, and keep your recovery email current. Our guide on two-factor authentication setup explains the options. For a private number to receive recovery codes during testing, get one at SMS-COOL.
The code may be going to a trusted device rather than SMS, the number may be filtered, or the format may be wrong. Use "Didn't get a verification code?".
Use another trusted device or a trusted phone number registered to your Apple ID.
They are short-lived. Request a fresh one if yours fails.
